From the Headmaster

Medical Services
As we all know, Dr Harrison is in charge of providing medical services to our students during their school hours. It is our commitment to offer your children a healthy physical development which enables to maximize their learning opportunities. We take this opportunity to remind you of certain aspects which we shall bear in mind to enhance our children’s wellbeing:
  1. We can only take care of minor emergencies which might occur to your child during the school day. Our goal is to alleviate pain, wound or minor distress while the student is able to return to class or go home.
  2. Due to our students’ security we can only administer medical treatments which have been previously prescribed by your personal paediatrician.
  3. Depending on the gravity of each situation, it is the parents’ responsibility to take their children to a general doctor, specialist or nearest hospital to follow up and treat any illness, wound, fissure or pain.
  4. It is mandatory to follow any instructions that school sends out to parents whenever there is an increase of any given contagious disease regardless of grade and sections as to avoid them becoming an outbreak.
  5. Prevention is the best way to control head lice and it is as easy as having good personal hygiene and regularly checking your child for them.

Primary News

Mid term break
We hope that you all have an enjoyable and restful mid term break. There is an Inset day, only for teachers, on Thursday 14th February and school is closed on Friday 15th and Monday 18th February.

Primary Spring Fair
Our annual Spring Fair takes place on Saturday 23rd February. All children and staff in the primary school are involved in this Saturday activity. The activities in which the children take part are based on our school curriculum so this is an excellent opportunity for the children to put into action some of the learning they have been engaged in this year.We look forward to seeing all our parents there too, to support their children.

Secondary News

We hope you have an enjoyable mid term break and we will see all students back in school on Tuesday at 7 am as usual. When we reopen next week it is only three weeks on Thursday until Grade 6-8 exams start. Please note there is information on our curriculum pages which will help your son or daughter prepare for these exams. It is also important to keep looking at your Class blog. It was a pleasure to see so many Grade 6 parents at the recent Parent Partnership Meeting to talk about helping your son or daughter with exam preparation. Remember one of the main tips was to get involved and be a part of their revision: “Don’t just tell them to study but help them study.” Please note that exam timetables are now on the blogs!

As you will see below we will soon be issuing reports for Cal 2 or Exam Cal for all grades - please ensure you are aware of the procedures and the upcoming meetings. Grade 12 reports will be coming home with a photocopy for you to sign and return to school.

Can we please remind you that we expect our students to arrive at school dressed in the morning, not putting on their ties as they walk into school. Please remember to check your son or daughter’s uniform as they leave the house in the morning and in particular checking students in PE uniforms are wearing proper socks and not trainer liners.

The week after next is Book Week. Let’s get reading!
