20th February Inset Day for Teachers - Mindset
Although the children are not expected at school on Thursday 20th February, their teachers will still be working hard. In the primary school on this inset day teachers and assistants will be developing their knowledge and understanding of strategies to help pupils in our school to develop a growth mindset in their learning. A growth mindset is one where you believe that through hard work, effort, resilience, persistence and learning from mistakes that we can get smarter! If our children, teachers and parents share this belief we have the recipe for optimum student learning.

IPC
It has been a very busy few weeks in the primary school, particularly in our IPC lessons. The last couple of weeks have seen trips out of school to local places of interest, Grade 1 parents in classrooms helping with the children’s learning, Grade 4 children dressed as characters from myths and legends from around the world, a fashion show from the parents in Grade 3, Grade 5 have made some wonderful models for their unit on Settlements which can be seen in the library and 2nd Grade managed to link their camping night last weekend the their unit about Chocolate. Please take the time over the weekend to look at the grade blogs and talk to your children about their learning. You cannot fail to be impressed by their knowledge and enthusiasm.

Reading workshops
Thank you to all parents who took time out of their busy days to attend our reading workshops this week. We hope that you found them useful.

Parent workshops from our specialist subject teachers
Next term we will be asking our specialist teachers to lead parent workshops so that you can find out from them about the importance of these subject areas in the education of the whole child, about the various curricula used and our expectations and about how PE, Art, ICT and Music are taught and learned in the primary school.
