Last night we celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2018. We were joined by Exabrit Ariela Suster as our guest of honour as well as the British Ambassador Bernhard Garside. Ariela talked about her memory of school and how she found her path in life. The stars of the show were the Class of 2018 and their achievements. All members of the Class have every right to be proud of their individual achievement and we celebrated each of them last night. In particular I would like to highlight our top academic graduates and our major prize winners

Primary News
Congratulations to our World Cup winners! The children had a fantastic experience playing matches against each other. We were very impressed with their football skills and their demonstration of our Team Player value.

Well done to Gabriel and Sara from PK for their participation in the Graduation. It was so exciting to imagine our PK children being on the same stage in 2032 for their own graduation.
During this week the children of Upper Primary Grades 2-4 took part in the start of their end of year celebration events with the Effort LEads to Success Assemblies. After much thought, the teachers were able to pick and talk about the highlights of the year as well a remind the students why they are so special. Each child was awarded a ROC value award, and for those demonstrating excellence during the year Academic Awards were handed out for the curriculum subjects. A special mention for James Lin, whom managed to scoop a massive 5 certificates this week. Congratulations to all that took part!
The children took home their end of year reports today, we are very proud of their effort and achievement. This year the children have made great progress in their learning, each at their own pace. We encourage you to celebrate your child’s individual successes.
A note for next week, there will be the school Lower & Upper Primary Talent shows being put on. Do not forget that if you are performing there will be rehearsal times for you to practice with Mr. Diaz. Good luck to those that are going to entertain us next week, I am sure you will do a fantastic job!

Dear Parents and carers,
I begin this weekly by saying what a wonderful celebration of success and achievement we had at the school Thursday evening at our class of 2018 Graduation. They will be missed at school and we wish them the very best in their next academic step. We look forward to welcoming them back at future Headmaster’s reception and share their successes.
Today we kick off the Awards Ceremonies with Grade 10 and we are grateful to all the parents who made time to come and support the year group. We remind you that G6,7,8,9 and 11 have their Awards ceremonies next week and they are all published on the calendar.
HABITAT for HUMANITY

The Grade 11 Habitat for Humanity team spent a productive Saturday morning last week digging a well and painting a new build. Here the are, hard at work. This has been a year-long Grade 11 CAS project, with help from the Grade 10s and the team has organised four successful construction activities over the course of the year.
KOMBIDAR

On Tuesday we organised a breakfast activity with all KS3 students. The purpose of this was to help all those people in need. Kombi-dar is a non profit organisation that help all those people who don't have shelter and provide a breakfast meal for free for everyone they sell. The breakfast was a success and we manage to collect over $600 dollars and more than 260 servings.
One of the nicest parts of the breakfast was that all of our blue men and women in our community joined us, and one of our Grade 8 ambassadors thank them in name of all the students.
This again is a great opportunity for our students to give back and share with the community.

Grade 9 Work Experience

“As part of our Vocational and University Orientation Program, every year we carry out an educational activity based on a work experience with our Year 9 students. Students are placed in a real life work situation, and they take on the responsibility of an internship / work experience for an entire week. They perform tasks directly related to the career(s) involved in that line of professional work, and the idea is that the student can see how the career option they are considering in their professional future, has real applicability in a particular field.
We have students working all around the city of San Salvador and Santa Tecla, in institutions and companies like TCS, Channel 10, Hotel Barceló, Hospital San Rafael, Santa Tecla Community Clinics, La Prensa Grafica, Latitude Sports, Monica Arguedas Fashion Store, Espino Law, Arias Law, TELUS, Channel 33, and as many others as the diversity in our student’s vocational interests. Our students have shown interest in the Law, Public Relations, International Relations, Communications, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Psychology, Education, Health, Engineering, Hospitality, as well as, TV Production, Fashion, Aviation and Scientific Research. At the end of the workweek, we will guide students on a reflection about careers and the work experience, so that they may continue to explore professions.
The university counselors at the school have been visiting students at work during the week. We have observed our students show great interest in their work, confidence on the tasks they have been guided to perform, showing ability, proactivity, and teamwork; and we have received very good comments from their mentors about their performance, including: they have been very punctual, show respect for adults, show much enthusiasm, and are eager to learn. From the students’ perspective, they feel grateful to have the opportunity to learn about a career they would want to pursue in the future. This feeling was corroborated in an email sent to us by one of our parents, which I would like to share:
“I would like to express my satisfaction for this activity; I believe that it is really contributing to the induction of students in work environments, particularly in the Espino Nieto Office, where they have put great effort to prepare tasks which are appropriate to the interests of young people and the objective of the experience…”
Finally, this activity would not be a success without the support of our professional community, which includes many parents of our ABC community. Thank you.”
LAST DAY OF LESSONS- Very important information!
Last day of lessons is around the corner on June 22nd and our traditional Supermatch will be held on that day. There will be lots of fun sports activities which we truly hope your child does not miss out! We are asking that ALL STUDENTS come wearing PE kit and bring a change of clothes (PE uniform) since there will water games!
One more week to go and still many events to go! I thank the parents in advance for your support in ensuring your children come to school to enjoy the last week of their school year. Don’t forget that next Friday 22nd of June, Secondary school students are allowed to leave at 12.00pm.
