From the Headmaster

Work being done over the holiday period
Besides the extensive cleaning, maintenance and grounds work that is usually done at this time of the year, there are several refurbishment and construction projects being undertaken in the next couple of months. Important to mention are: the changing of two classrooms into science laboratories, the renovation of two further classrooms, music practice rooms, both the ICT lab in the Jubilee Library as well as the one in the LRC; the first phase of our master plan will also be started which includes a multi purpose area (for our dance and drama programmes, as well as other uses), temporary classroom space and a specially designed food production and serving area for our Cafeteria.

The current School Shop is being remodelled to provide some space for our Head of Year offices and so there will be special arrangements for the School Shop until it is complete. Please take note of the times and location for the School Shop during the holiday period.

The school reviews its philosophy and objectives regularly and will be doing so with this questionnaire. I ask our community to take the ten minutes or so that it will take to give us opinions on what aspects the ABC should be concentrating on to prepare our students for the 21st Century.

Thanking you in advance and wishing all our community a very relaxing and safe holiday!

Primary News

Please read!
The Jubilee library will be open from 9am until 12 noon every Tuesday in June and July. Please bring your children in to borrow books so that they continue with their reading over the long summer holiday.

The websites below have some really good recommendations for age appropriate books for your children.

End of school year 12/13
The school year has finished and both children and staff are looking forward to a well earned break. It has been, once again, a very busy year. If you have time to sit with your child during the vacation and look through the blogs on our school website you will see some highlights of events and activities.

We wish Grade 5 all the best for their transition to the secondary school and hope that they will come back to visit us from time to time. We wish staff who are leaving us this year good luck in the next phase of their lives and hope that they too will keep in touch.

We hope that our parents enjoy their children’s company over the next few weeks, please remember to speak with them in English as well as Spanish, so that they do not forget what they have learned this year.

We hope you have a wonderful holiday.

Start of school year 13/14
We look forward to seeing all of our pupils back in school at 7am on Thursday, August 22nd, rested, relaxed and ready for another busy and successful year.

Secondary News

We had a very busy end of term and thank you to so many parents for joining us for the Awards Assemblies. These are exciting events especially when students do not yet know how they have done and it is great to see their excitement at the awards they receive. However it is really important for us that they show complete respect when students names are being announced and awards are being handed out.

On the final day I reminded all students of the need to ensure they spend some time over the summer holidays reflecting on their successes and areas for action from the current year and then doing something about the areas for improvement during the holidays.

Overall we have been delighted with the last school year and all our successes as highlighted in the awards Assemblies. We are proud of all our students and are looking for them to achieve even more next year. We return to school on Thursday 22nd August and look forward to seeing all our students then.
