From the Director

Congratulation to the Classes of 2024 and 2017 who celebrated completing their respective school journeys this week. The Class of 2024 is moving from Primary to Secondary School and we are looking forward to seeing them grow over the coming years. The Class of 2017 celebrated their graduation from school yesterday. It was wonderful to hear their thoughts and reflections on their time at school and we wish them the very best in their future lives. These events show our community and the supportive way it helps our children grow up in the very best light. One of the highlights of the Class 2017 graduation was the moment when two of our Pre Kinder children handed out medals to students who had been at the school from Pre Kinder. We realised that amongst the graduating class were the two children who had done the same activity when they were in pre Kinder in 2003! Here is a photograph of them from last night!

It is always sad to say farewell at the end of the school year and many of us will be losing friends from our immediate community. We say farewell to teachers, support staff, students and families and we hope they all take good memories from their time at the ABC. I know all of us have fond memories of the people who have shared their time with us. Out of the leaving staff I am going to say a particular farewell to Catherine Corry who has been at the school for many years and has been at the heart of our understanding of the needs of young learners. We will miss her both personally and professionally and thank her for the great work she has done in our community.

We close down next week for our summer holidays. Some children will be taking advantage of our ABC Summer Camp and more information can be obtained through Sara Suster (sarasuster@abc-net.edu.sv)

Primary News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you all for contributing to our Food Truck-Kombidar activity on Monday! Children were able to understand how important it is to care for others and how, with a small amount, we can make a big difference. They all represented our school's Values and Traits greatly and felt proud of what we did. With all your support, we were able to donate more than 400 breakfasts for homeless people in Santa Tecla! We would like, once again, to thank all of you for such a positive response! We look forward to work with Kombidar, once again, next school year!

Later in the day the Upper Primary students took part in the fun day too.

A reminder for next year. All shoes must have a fastening or strap. If students arrive in slip on shoes we will call home and ask you to bring in another pair. We have been saying this all year and we will be enforcing it strongly next year.

We will be saying goodbye to a few of our students today, either moving to different countries or different schools. We hope they will remember their days at Academia Britanica Cuscatleca with fondness and will sometimes think of us and wonder what we are all doing now. We are also saying goodbye to Catherine Corry and Chris Hall as mentioned previously as well as the following; Laura Hall who worked in the Jubilee Library, Katy Sullivan from Grade 3, Piers Hunday from English Second Language is returning to China, Lindsey Grey from 1st Grade is moving to Spain, Nicola Butler from Prepa is also off to China, Nancy Duke is moving to the ‘States’, Marcela Alger moving to Guatemala, Lucia Vides going to study in Spain and of course Mrs Brenes and her daughter Jenny left us earlier in the year. We wish students and staff all the best in their new locations.

When we have the IPC accreditation the visiting team will be interviewing parents to find out what you know about the IPC. They will also be sending you a quiz to complete. I thought it would be nice to get in a bit of practice so I have prepared my own quiz for you to test your familiarity with the IPC. The closing date for submission is the 28th July 2017. We will announce the winners in the ABC Weekly in August when we return and award three prizes of quality British Chocolates to the top three forms submitted. Good luck to everyone who takes part. We hope all the parents from Prepa to 5th will have a try.

The quiz will be sent to you by separate email. Please keep an eye open for it.

Staff will be returning to school on the 14th August to prepare for the coming year. Students are expected back on the 21st August. Please remember Primary provide all the day to day equipment needed and so students will not be bringing pencil cases or other equipment from home.

I cannot believe another year has flown by. I look at the grade 5’s and they have grown so tall and the Pre-Kinder students have grown so confident. There have been changes in all the grades in between as well. The students are very tired at the end of the year, as are the staff and parents too with the daily rush to get the students to school. Let us all have a wonderful and restful holiday so that we return in top condition for next year. Be safe and be happy. See you in August!

Very best wishes,

Sharon Short

Secondary News

Dear ABC community,

We are nearly at the end of our day and I would like to take a moment to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU on behalf of the school community, to each and every single one of the amazing teachers and staff, which have made this year another fantastic one!

It was teacher’s day yesterday as you all know, and thank you to the Prefect team and students for having celebrated it for us.

Last night, as I listened to the words of our graduates, it struck me just how positive and grateful they were when talking about the many memories they take with them, and how they have grown to love the school, which saw them grow.

I don’t think their love stems from the memories of homework and detentions, or being told not to wear non-school jumpers, but rather from their understanding of their teachers’ dedication and work and the passion with which they taught their lessons and carried out their everyday tasks and activities.

As educators, our purpose, beyond instilling and sharing our passion for our subject, is to guide and enlighten our students to develop with regards to any aspect of life.

This year at the ABC has not been without challenges, but we all did our bit, contributed, and worked as a TEAM to offer the very best experiences for you, our students. In turn, you also worked very hard to develop your skills and talents and through your various contributions, made the school a better place.

I have to say I am honoured and humbled to be part of this amazing team!

As is often the case in large international schools, the year ends with us having to say farewell to a number of teachers. To Kateri Cotoure-Latoure, Amos Van Die, James Merry, Lucy Burns, Anna Ravenscroft, Mariela Rodriguez, Lorna Sanchez, Dee Leong, Joel Godiah, Don Cleary, Kate O’Regan, and Ciara Gillespie I would like to say:

Dear colleagues,

you have made a massive impact on our students here at the ABC and I am sure you will be sadly missed. We hope that your new place is full of fun and happiness and amazing experiences and that you find another community just as welcoming and warm as our ABC family.

Farewell and thank you!

To the staff remaining with us and to our students I say: I look forward to next year already and it will be my distinct honour and privilege to continue working for you next year.

Have a fantastic summer break!

Warm regards,

Natalia Cáceres Escalón

The ABC Musicians have been making waves in Cuba this week in an amazing brief tour. They have been received very cordially and have made music with new people. We are looking forward to welcoming them home at the weekend and hearing all their stories.

I know this is a busy time of year and many of you have been in school this week celebrating the success of your children at various assemblies and events. We do appreciate you finding time in your busy schedule to join your children for these celebrations. We believe it is very important to show our children how much we value their education and growing up to be a responsible member of society. I believe an important part of this is that we find time for our children and we act as excellent role models for them.

There are a number of similar events next week including of course the Graduation Event for the Class of 2017 on Thursday which will also be attended by the classes of 2018 and 2019. We hope it will help them understand the endpoint of an ABC education.

As we approach the end of this school year I would like to thank so many of you for the amazing support you show to our school and our children. We do believe we are a community which is educating children to become leaders who will change our world for the better. This is something we achieve together and by ensuring school and family work together.

Primary News

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we have celebrated the success of our 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade students. Parents have come in to hear some of the achievements that their children have made. We also recognised a few of the children with the headmasters ROC of Honour award. As Mr Keslake said there were so many students we could have chosen, which is wonderful. We feel very proud of all our students. They all have strengths and aptitudes and they appreciate that Effort Leads to Success. We hope all of the parents enjoyed the assemblies as well.

The students in various grades have been on local trips to round off the year. They have represented the school well with good behaviour and full engagement with the learning opportunities. Well done students.

Last week Prepa carried out some science experiments for the IPC unit on water. They collected water contaminated with dirt, leaves, and debris, etc. Then they filtered it to remove those items. The children concluded that the final water was not pure to drink, but could be used for other activities such as watering plants, washing the floor, washing the car, etc. Finally they may thought about the challenges that communities around the world face and how they could get clean water.

The water unit for the whole school is now coming to an end. Over the next few days the students will be undertaking their exit points. It has already become evident that students understanding of water, its use and availability has grown enormously. Please ask your children to reflect on their learning over the unit and see what they tell you.

Wednesday was the Primary Art Exhibition

We displayed paintings linked to their IPC units from Grade 1 to Grade 5 as follows:

Grade 1
Watercolour landscapes
They made different effects on their paintings. They also applied their learning on colour blending and colour degradation.
Grade 2
Rainforest art
Children drew and painted rainforest pictures, they used different media and techniques like oil pastels, pastel chalks, crayons, markers, watercolours and tempera. They applied their knowledge and skills including perspective, far-near effects, and focus point.
Grade 3
Egyptian art
Children learned how to enlarge pictures using the grid system creating Egyptian Tomb paintings of a very good standard. They also used the colours used by ancient Egyptians in their paintings.
Grade 4
Northern Lights landscape
Children created their own landscapes using the colour blending and colour degradation technique using acrylic paints. They also created the Northern lights effect by using the swept technique.
Grade 5
Migration Landscapes
Children created their own escaping paradise. They choose how and what materials they wanted to use. They used acrylic paints, wooden sticks, fabric, recycled paper, tempera paints, crayons, sand and markers to create different effects.

Well done to all the students who completed the work and to Ms Roxana Flores for organising the whole event and displaying the work with her assistant Ms Sandra Rivera.

The school reports will be sent out this afternoon. Please keep an eye open for your child’s. Please remember reports are not released if there are financial discrepancies.

Monday will be a non-uniform day as the students are undertaking a wide range of activities that will be loads of fun but might get messy. Please see the following from Ms Mena our student council liaison teacher.

“We are now coming to the end of a great school year. For this, Student Councils have organized a Fun Day-Food Truck breakfast. Children will be buying breakfast on Monday morning from the Konvi-Dar food truck and for every breakfast we buy, Konvi-Dar (and us too) will donate another Breakfast for less fortunate people in Santa Tecla! This is another way in which we are thinking Globally and acting Locally with our community. The food truck is ran by an Exabrit, Lily Reyes-class of 98; she is a perfect example of what we want our students to be, a ROC!

One week to go and we can all collapse in a heap!

Have a lovely weekend.

Secondary News

Dear parents and guardians,

One more busy week at school and one more to go!

Grade 10 have been involved in their two week induction programme this week and I must say a huge thank you to Mr Hall and Mr Hogan as well as Mr Depooter and the rest of the staff who have been very busy delivering a fantastic introduction to the IB.

Graduation day
On Thursday we have our Class of 2017 Graduation ceremony. School will close early for Grades 6, 7, 8 and 9 at 11.25am. Grade 10 and Grade 11 will attend a short rehearsal at that time and they will be allowed to leave school at 12.00pm. Our Grade 10 and Grade 11 students must attend the Graduation ceremony and we ask parents to bring them back to school at 4.15pm. Students must wear their normal school uniform with pride and this includes boys cleanly shaved and no non-school jumpers. We really appreciate your support with this.

Our KS3 have grades have enjoyed their Life Skills day and family days this week.

Grade 7- Poverty Day
From Ms Jacqueline Soriano- Head of Year 7

Grade 6 - Water Day
From Ms Carmen Chávez- Head of Year 6 and Pastoral Coordinator
Water day began with a presentation delivered by Mr Keslake with some facts about water and the planets, the forms of water, water cycle and how much water our bodies contain. Then the Maths department had some activities planned on how to measure how much water one person needs per day and finally in science class they learned about how to measure the amount of water that comes out of an open tap and the importance of not wasting it using science equipments.

After this we had a quiz based on the morning PPT and we went to the pool, we divided the kids in tribes and they had to carry water wound the field without wasting it, this based on the fact that many children around the world have to carry their own water for survival. We ended with a lot of fun during P.E. and with a family lunch, it was lovely to see many parents spending some quality time with their children.

Language Relays
From Ms Rossi- Head of Spanish Department
Today the KS3 students participated in our now traditional language relays at the ABC as a wrap up in English, French and Spanish. There were games, songs, grammar exercises, spelling, comprehensive reading, poetry and much more.

The students enjoyed it creatively. They were supportive, enthusiastic, responsible and thoughtful. Not only do we congratulate the winners but all the participants for their excellent conduct and dedication. We invite you to see the photos on the Spanish page.

Next week we have our Achievement ceremonies for all year groups and we invite the whole community to their child’s Grade’s ceremony to support and celebrate everyone’s success. If your child is receiving an award, you will be notified via email from the office so you are aware. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Please note that we have had a technical problem with the publishing of the Cal 3 reports on iSAMS and we apologise for this. We are still working hard to fix this and as always, the CAl 3 report will be published on Friday.

Thank you for your ongoing support and I wish you a very enjoyable weekend.

Kind regards,

Natalia Cáceres Escalón

36: Friday 9th June 2017

From the Director

I had the pleasure of hosting the Accion de Gracias on Wednesday evening with the graduating Class of 2017. I am in the enviable position where I get to personally greet every graduate and their close families and share their celebration. The Auditorium was packed with well wishers for the event and I know all the families are looking forward to the rest of the celebrations.

At this time of year we always say farewell to a number of people. I need to say a big thank you to two of them. Catherine Corry who has been part of the ABC for many years and has been crucial in leading change in the Lower Primary school is leaving. We are very grateful for all she has done in our community. Chris Hall our Upper Primary Deputy Head is also leaving to return to the UK with his family after four years with us. I would like to thank him for all his work and leadership in the Primary School. Marianne Taylor will be our new Deputy Head of Lower Primary and we are welcoming Thomas McNeil, currently working in Qatar, to become our new Deputy Head of Upper Primary.

Today marks the final day of the IGCSE exams for the Class of 2019 and I would like to congratulate them for all the hard work they have put in and look forward to the results in August. It is nice to have all the international examinations complete and the Class of 2019 will now be focussing on preparation for their IB programme next year. I am looking forward to seeing them all back in school on Monday.

This week we made a $520 donation to Hospital Bloom from the funds raised at our traditional Spooky Cellar during the Guy Fawkes celebration. Thank you to Andrés Figueroa and Diego Behrens who made the donation on behalf of the Student Council.

On Monday we will be celebrating success across the school with our annual lap of honour. In the evening we have the Logros Events for some of our champions during this year. Congratulations to all students involved in the lap of honour who will be wearing their team colours for the lap of honour.

Primary News

Dear Parents and Carers,

We were very pleased with the parent turn out for the final UK Trip meeting. Everyone was very supportive and asking sensible questions. We know the students will have a great time. We have made some changes to our itinerary in the light of recent events in London.

I would like to ask you to ensure your children understand that they cannot sell things in school without my personal permission. Some of our young entrepreneurs have got a little bit carried away. Please also note that ‘fidget spinners’ are not allowed unless they are recommended in writing by a psychologist for a particular student.

On Monday morning we will have a Lap of Honour for students who have participated in special events including sports teams, DVA awards and choir performances. Students can wear a t-shirt related for their event on the day. Every participant needs to be in the Auditorium by 7.15am so please bring your child in a few minutes earlier to allow them to get there.

Today is the last day for extra curricular activities with the teachers this year. If you are not able to pick your children up earlier they can go to Pass Club for a very small and reasonable fee. TeamSports will continue until the last day of term so if your children are involved in any of those they will be carrying on.

On Thursday Kinder walked to The Maya Country Club. It was a first time experience for some of our students and actually some of them expressed that they had never walked on the sidewalk before. When they arrived there was a big slide waiting for them. Some of the children were eager to try it out.

Others took a while longer to have a go and some others decided they were still not ready for it. At the end of our field trip all of them had a story to take home!

I wanted to share with you the principles of next step marking. In upper primary particularly we use a method where we recognise two things a student has done well and then find one thing we would like them to improve. We use two colours so the students can see at a glance what went well and focus on the points. We are ‘tickled pink’ which means ‘very pleased’ in English with the things we mark pink (or purple sometimes as it shows up better) and ‘green for growth.’ The idea is that students always know what they need to do to get better. These items are often discussed with the students as well to make sure there is no confusion. The students also have ‘success criteria’ so they know what the teacher is particularly looking for in a piece of work. They can then check for themselves or with a friend at the end to see if they included them.

In 3rd Sullivan, they are reading The Water Horse by Dick King-Smith. As well as linking to the IPC topic On Tap, it is giving them lots of opportunities to write the genres they have learned earlier in the year; here is an example of a non-chronological report. There are many on display in the classroom. You can see how the pink/purple ticks have been used to identify positives and green for things to look at again or improve..

The ‘Effort Leads to Success’ Assemblies will be starting next week. Please make sure you have booked the slot in your diary and arrive in good time to allow for traffic issues.

As Mr Keslake mentions above Ms Corry and Mr Hall are leaving the school this year.

Ms Corry has been a dedicated teacher and senior leader and we will all miss her. The world class Lower Primary that we have today is largely down to her vision and commitment to providing the very best for our children. We wish her all the best with her move.

Mr Hall has also worked very hard in his four years in school and has led Upper Primary in new and better directions. He too has a clear vision of best educational practice and has supported the staff with recent modifications to their teaching and classroom arrangements. We wish him every success back in the UK.

On a personal note both have been a great support to me in my role as Head of Primary and allowed me function easily because they have worked so conscientiously in their sections. We hope they will both stay in touch.

Enjoy the weekend.

Dear parents and carers,

Two weeks to go to the end of year and still so many events taking place! We are looking forward to our annual Lap of Honour which is taking place on Monday morning where we have the opportunity to celebrate our students involvement and participation in so many activities throughout the year! If your child is participating, they should wear the uniform or attire corresponding to the activity.

Next week, Grade 9 will go on their work experience programme and we wish them all the best and hope they make the most of this opportunity to learn about the world of work. Grade 10 finish their IGCSE exam period today and on Monday we look forward to welcoming them back into school for their two week IB Induction programme. We have a new and exciting programme, which includes a presentation from our very own Internationally-renowned Salvadorean artist Lula Mena, who will be talking with them about development in El Salvador. We know they will take full advantage of it. Last but not least, we wish our Music students and staff Bon voyage as they set off to Cuba on their educational trip. We know it will be an amazing experience!

Spooky Cellar funds raised by our StuCo
A donation of $ 520.00 was delivered to Hospital Bloom this week, by Andrés Figueroa (StuCo President) and Diego Behrens (StuCo Vice President) on behalf of the school community. These funds were raised at our Guy Fawkes celebrations by the StuCo’s annual Spooky Cellar. Thank you to the community for your continued support!

Grade 6 Cocktail sale-Charity
From Mr Gale- Maths department
Over the last few weeks grade 6 have been working on their ratio and proportion project. The aim was to create their own cocktail in groups that they would then sell on Tuesday lunchtime, with all the money going to the grade 6 charity The Urban Dog Sanctuary. The whole of grade 6 worked extremely hard in their classes and created some delicious cocktails that the rest of the school got to enjoy. In total $132.92 was raised. A big thank you to all those that supported grade 6 and a huge well done to the whole year group for their effort and enthusiasm throughout.

Congratulations to our BKB Coach Mr Carrillo
From Team Sports
TSP congratulates our beloved coach José Roberto Carrillo, whose team "Brujos de Izalco" is champion of the "Torneo Apertura de la Liga Mayor de Baloncesto", It's the first time a coach wins this twice!

Congratulations Mr Carrillo!

Grade 9- Model United Nations Day
From Mr Merry- MUN coordinator
Grade 9 took part in their annual Model United Nations on Wednesday 7th June, representing countries and key people in various mock United Nation committees. Their role was to examine many issues the world faces and try to find a political resolution, based on the ideals and policies their country/person holds. Added to this were unexpected crisis that could hit at any time. We were lucky enough to have two guest speakers. Paola Barragan and Oswaldo Zepeda who have both worked in an international context and were able to pass on some words of wisdom to any budding International Relations students. My thanks goes out to them for giving up their time.

Students looked amazing walking around the school in their suits and office wear and worked very hard throughout the day. It should be noted that the MUN is run wholly by students and without the help of Paul Davis, Majo Linares and their team of helpers from various grades this event would not be able to run. This involved returning Grade 10 and 12 Students. We were even lucky enough to have an EXABRIT Samantha Burch come and help too. This really is a day that celebrates students work at all levels and widens our school communities attitudes to international issues and how we can be involved. Well done to all involved.

Thank you for your continued support ensuring your children arrive on time and do not miss any of the days left.

Have a wonderful weekend

Warm regards,
Natalia Cáceres Escalón

35: Friday 2nd June 2017

From the Director

As this school year comes towards its end it is natural for us to reflect on the successes of the school year. I know that all of us as parents and teachers have those successes which we can celebrate with our children and we will be doing our celebrations over the coming weeks. Some of these will be at Awards Assemblies which will be celebrating our school values and we will also be having our traditional Lap of Honour on Monday 12th June. On that evening we will also be inviting parents of our sporting and other successes to a brief reception hosted by the Board of Governors.

We had a very successful CIS visit last week and it is clear that the ABC is working in line with the highest expectations of international schools around the world. As a school community we will be working on CIS related issues over the coming year. It should be a very interesting time as we reflect on the issues that are relevant to our school and our community.

The Exabrit Community will be together this evening at the Headmaster’s Reception as part of the induction process for the Class of 2017 into the Exabrit community. On behalf of our whole community I want to remind all of us of our responsibilities as exabrits to show our students how to live ABC values and to act as ROCs in the outside word. I hope everyone who attends will enjoy the Headmaster’s Reception and will work to ensure we set a great example for our graduating class.

I am pleased to announce that Natalia Caceres will be Head of Secondary for the coming school year. Our previous Head of secondary, Virginia Caitlin is doing well with her treatment but is still not well enough to return to fulltime work. I would like to thank Virginia very much for all she did in the time she was with us. I am confident Natalia will do a great job with all our support!

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Primary News

Dear parents and carers,

The Latin Music Night last Friday was a real pleasure to attend. The atmosphere was vibrant with the music. The students performed admirably and those of us who stayed until the end danced and danced to the excellent band. We had a great evening. We need to thank all the parents who brought their children along and stayed to enjoy the event as well as all the staff who organised and supported it. THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Monday evening we held the transition meeting for the parents of our Grade 5 students who are moving on to Grade 6 next year. Thank you to all the parents that attended this important meeting. We hope you and your children feel well supported for this next step.

Thursday the 8th June is the Transition Meeting for Grade 1 parents. It will be a chance to see your children’s teachers for next year and to learn a little bit more about Grade 2. Your children will be moving from Key Stage 1 into Key Stage 2 and there are some different expectations and of course some similarities. Please come to the PAC for a prompt start at 4.00pm.

The talent shows are fast approaching please ensure your children are already perfecting their acts!

In the next few weeks we will have our ‘Effort Leads to Success’ and ‘Moving On’ assemblies when we recognise the qualities and progress of our students. Please make a note in your diary and remember that only two family members can attend. We simply do not have space for the four classes and more adults than that.

Read with your children.
Here is a little article on the importance of parents reading with their children. Take a look and see what you can do over the summer holidays.

Have a restful weekend.

Secondary News

Dear parents and carers,

This week started off with the excitement of welcoming our Grade 5 students into Secondary School in their Transition days, where they had the chance to experience two full days with us. I am happy to say that they were very positive and are now very much looking forward to joining the “big” school in August! I have to say a big thank you to our Grade 6 Student Ambassadors, who did a superb job looking after them and also in their job as ‘Campus tour guides’ on Monday evening at our Parent Partnership event. I know the parents of Grade 5 were impressed with how well they did.

These transition days mark the start of the end of this Academic year and it reminds us how important it is to do all we can to ensure we are ready for the challenges ahead. Whether they be Grade 12 going on to university, Grade 10 moving into their IB Diploma programme, Grade 8 preparing to start their first International Certification course (IGCSE) and of course facing a new set of teachers and peers next academic year, each change requires a lot of reflection and preparation to make the best of our opportunities.

The school will also be facing changes which is the nature of all International schools; some leaving staff, some new staff joining us next year, as well as some teachers taking on different roles. I am happy to announce the new posts for next academic year so you can start to become familiar with them.

Ms Carmen Chávez will continue as Head of Year 6 but she has joined our Leadership team as “Pastoral Coordinator.” She will work closely with the team of Heads of Year and LSU.

The HoY team for next year will be:
  • Grade 6: Carmen
  • Grade 7: Nick Gale
  • Grade 8: Jacqueline Soriano
  • Grade 9: Iryna Sydoruk
  • Grade 10: Duncan Ware
  • Grade 11: Scott Depooter
  • Grade 12: Colin Hogan
Mr Colin Hogan will continue as Head of Year 12 but he has joined our Leadership team as ‘IB Coordinator for the IB years’. Mrs Sandra de Leon will be Assistant to IB Coordination and will work closely with Mr Hogan and Lissett Castro and the IB team. Mrs Karen Bradburn will move from a Pastoral Head of Year position, to an Academic role as Head of the Maths Department.

We are fortunate to have talented and caring professionals dedicated to the wellbeing and positive development of our students and I know I speak on behalf of Mr Hall, our Secondary School Deputy Head, when I say we are very much looking forward to working together next year!

From LSU Coordinator Lic Raquel Zepeda, PhD Candidate.
The Learning Support Unit's mission is to enable students to experience success in the diverse areas of their educational journey. We strive to promote their well-being and empower them in accessing our curriculum and values.

We are aware of how the demands increase throughout our academic program, as well as the social and emotional demands our students experience in their daily lives.

To meet the needs of our students, the LSU has grown to incorporate highly qualified and trained specialists to provide support to our students in specific areas of their development in school.

From Ms Gonzalez- Head of Art Department
We recently participated in the second "Diseña tu Mochila" competition, organized by TOTTO El Salvador. Isabella Portillo Medrano, one of our sixth graders, participated and was was on the winners. As a reward, they gave her a diploma and her design will be part of the designs they sell locally and abroad. The ABC community, as well as the Arts Department, is very proud of this excellent student.

Congratulations Isabella!
