Next Thursday is a very important meeting for Grade 10 parents and students to discuss IB Options. The meeting will be in the PAC at 5.30 pm.

Grade 12 will be bringing their Exam Cal reports home today and we ask that you complete sign and return the photocopy. Please feel free to contact us about any concerns you might have. We are very concerned that the Class 2013 continue to work hard in the run up to their final IB exams and we ask for your encouragement:
Remember: “Don’t just tell them to revise but help them revise!”

Respect
We have been dealing with some issues of disrespect in school recently where students have used highly inappropriate language to other students and we fear that some of this is suggesting that some students are exposed to age inappropriate internet sites. We would urge that you please check the sites your son or daughter are visiting as well as their Facebook, or other social network pages. We are determined our students will continue to show the high level of respect for each other as well as towards parents and teachers as we all expect of ABC students.

Please help celebrate Book Week next week by encouraging reading at home! The week after next is the Bicultural Arts Festival

We are supporting a local Downs Syndrome Support group with a T shirt day in March. If you want your son or daughter to participate they need to make an order at school by Thursday 28th February. The T shirt will cost $5.

Medical Services
As we all know, Dr Harrison is in charge of providing medical services to our students during their school hours. It is our commitment to offer your children a healthy physical development which enables to maximize their learning opportunities. We take this opportunity to remind you of certain aspects which we shall bear in mind to enhance our children’s wellbeing:
  1. We can only take care of minor emergencies which might occur to your child during the school day. Our goal is to alleviate pain, wound or minor distress while the student is able to return to class or go home.
  2. Due to our students’ security we can only administer medical treatments which have been previously prescribed by your personal paediatrician.
  3. Depending on the gravity of each situation, it is the parents’ responsibility to take their children to a general doctor, specialist or nearest hospital to follow up and treat any illness, wound, fissure or pain.
  4. It is mandatory to follow any instructions that school sends out to parents whenever there is an increase of any given contagious disease regardless of grade and sections as to avoid them becoming an outbreak.
  5. Prevention is the best way to control head lice and it is as easy as having good personal hygiene and regularly checking your child for them.

We hope you have an enjoyable mid term break and we will see all students back in school on Tuesday at 7 am as usual. When we reopen next week it is only three weeks on Thursday until Grade 6-8 exams start. Please note there is information on our curriculum pages which will help your son or daughter prepare for these exams. It is also important to keep looking at your Class blog. It was a pleasure to see so many Grade 6 parents at the recent Parent Partnership Meeting to talk about helping your son or daughter with exam preparation. Remember one of the main tips was to get involved and be a part of their revision: “Don’t just tell them to study but help them study.” Please note that exam timetables are now on the blogs!

As you will see below we will soon be issuing reports for Cal 2 or Exam Cal for all grades - please ensure you are aware of the procedures and the upcoming meetings. Grade 12 reports will be coming home with a photocopy for you to sign and return to school.

Can we please remind you that we expect our students to arrive at school dressed in the morning, not putting on their ties as they walk into school. Please remember to check your son or daughter’s uniform as they leave the house in the morning and in particular checking students in PE uniforms are wearing proper socks and not trainer liners.

The week after next is Book Week. Let’s get reading!
