Words from the Director

I would like to wish everyone a great family day tomorrow. I know technically speaking it is Mothers Day but in my experience of ABC mothers I see them as amazing examples and passionate advocates of family and love for our families. I know you will celebrate tomorrow and enjoy the day as a family. We will see you all back in school on Tuesday. Please note school will be open for IGCSE and IB exams tomorrow and on Monday.

Thank you to those parents who came to the strategic planning meeting. Please do write to Anabella Soto (anabellasoto@abc-net.edu.sv) if you would like to attend a similar session on Tuesday at 7 pm in the ABCLT.

I would like to express my thanks to everyone who has been involved in Book week and follow up activities across the school this week and next week. Reading is such an important part of human history and entertainment and we have shown some great examples to our children. It is important we continue to do so at home and at school as we work together in our community.

Words from the Head of Primary

It is only weeks to the end of term and the teachers are working hard starting to complete end of year assessments and to write reports. They are also preparing for our end of year celebrations. In Upper Primary this takes the form of Achievement assemblies and for Grade 5 the Moving On assembly. Please make sure all the students will be present. On the June 20th it is the LP and UP Primary talent shows. Students should be thinking about what they would like to do. Please support your children in preparing for their performances.

Parent Readers- A HUGE thank you to the parents who have come into school to read to our students. It has been amazing and the children have loved it. This follows on nicely from our successful Book Week.

Book of the Week
The King Who Banned the Dark by Emily Haworth-Booth

When a little boy grows up to be king, he decides to use his power to tackle his fear of the dark by banning it. His advisors persuade him that the best way to do this is by convincing the people that it was what they wanted anyway. They even plan a celebration of the dark ban with a grand fireworks display but maybe the people are not as susceptible as the king and his advisors believe…

Today is Mother’s Day. I hope all the Mothers in our community have a wonderful day. I also hope all our students do something nice for their Mother! School is closed Monday.

Best wishes for a long wonderful weekend.

Words from the Head of Secondary

Dear parents and carers,

Our IB and IGCSE students are off to a great start with their examinations! It is a very exciting and challenging time for them and I thank all the parents for their support in ensuring they are using their time wisely and arriving to their exams in time.

We are very busy with Grade 9 and 11 preparing for their final exams which are coming up and we are confident they will be very successful in them! Mr Hall has shared the exams timetable so please take a moment to go over it with your children.

We ran our Leadership training session for our Student Leaders on Friday. Student Council Executive Team and our Head Students and Prefect body came together for a workshop on developing their leadership skills and their own personal vision. I thank Mr Keslake, Mr Hogan and Ms Chávez for their contribution and running of the workshop. I know from speaking with our students they found it thought provoking.

WE look forward to our Talent Show 2019! Please encourage your children to participate!!

University Counselling department invites all parents of the class of 2020 to join their children at the Parent Partnership session on “university Search and Application Process.”

Please make a point of joining your children for this important session. Please note that it will take place during their Life Skills lesson so the times are sharp- it will begin at 8.10 am and will finish at 9.10am.

Have a wonderful long weekend with your family and HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all our wonderful mothers!

Kind regards,

Natalia Cáceres Escalón
