15: Friday 6th January 2017

From the ABC Leadership Team

School opens on Monday morning at 7 am. 7.15 am and 7.30 am respectively and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back after the Christmas Vacation. It is a strong tradition in Britain to make a New Year’s resolution at the start of each new year. A resolution is something you would like to change or do better in the year ahead. As 2017 starts we would like to suggest that as a community we make a couple of resolutions. Firstly, we all commit ourselves to ensuring we understand the concerns young people face and we ensure we work with them to ensure they remain safe and overcome challenges. The more we understand the complexity of growing up nowadays the more we realise the importance of close support and guidance. Independence is an ABC trait but it does not mean isolation or a feeling of loneliness. Independence must be promoted within a team that supports and encourages our youngsters at school and at home. We can all work to ensure our children feel supported in all aspects of their lives. Secondly, we would like to suggest that our children are encouraged to try something different. Perhaps a new activity, perhaps a new approach to an old activity but a new year is a great opportunity to start doing something different.

As we look forward to the year ahead I would like all of us to do so in a positive manner. As adults we sometimes become negative about change and the future. It is important we are positive with our young people giving them hope and optimism for a better future. Let us all be positive about a very successful future both in 2017 and in the years to come.

Please check our dates below and our school calendar. We have a number of visitors coming to work with us this term. We have a trainer on safeguarding and promoting wellbeing who will be working with all staff. We also have an INSET day looking at ways to develop our bilingual learners throughout school to support their English language acquisition. It is part of our resolution this year to continue to support our children and to ensure we try different ways in order to do things even better. I know 2017 is going to be a great year and look forward to seeing you on Monday morning.
