Words from the Director

We have all been shocked by the unfortunate weather this week which has led to such distress in the country and to schools closing across the country.

We would like to provide assistance for people affected by flooding in areas of La Libertad and we are asking if you could send relief materials to school on Monday when we will have a collection. In particular we would like fried food such as rice , beans, milk powder and any spare clothing, blankets or sanitary products.

I hope you have managed to cope with your children at home and have managed to help them complete the work we have been setting. It is important that we set work especially for our older students because we do not want them to miss out on the rhythm of their studies. We are looking forward to seeing them back at school on Monday and checking the work. We are working out how we will catch up for lost learning time next week.

Next Wednesday the government is planning a day for schools to practice their earthquake and evacuation drills. It was originally planned for last Wednesday which was the anniversary of the 1986 earthquake in San Salvador. We will be going through our procedures as well as testing our Madres Enlaces contact chain. Please do not panic if you are called. It should only be a test!

Tomorrow morning we are opening our doors to potential students for the class of 2034 who will be starting Pre Kinder in August 2019. It is an opportunity for parents to taste our child centred learning environment. All educational research across the world shows that our style of free flow leads to the best long term child development. If you have not arranged to visit tomorrow we do have other Saturday mornings which you can sign up to. You can also invite friends with children who will be between 3 and 5 years old in August. Please contact Estefania Chacón at school. Her contact details are estefaniachacon@abc-net.edu.sv

Words from the Head of Secondary

Dear parents and carers,

I hope this message finds everyone well in face of the current national emergency. As you know we are collecting food and clothes for relief and I thank all of our students, staff and parents who have already contributed to this. I know we will receive even more next Monday when we reopen.

This week all students should have been following as much as possible the work set by their teachers according to their normal lesson timetable. If your child is unable to complete a task, please encourage them to contact their teachers and of course speak to them on their return.

We wish the class of 2019 the best of luck for their upcoming PAES exams!
